In 1974 he had a recurring role as Sgt. Frank Cole in the TV series Harry O. Atkins starred as Lt. Tom Sullivan from 1976 to 1977 and had a recurring role in the series The Rockford Files from 1974 to 1977. Atkins has starred in many films including The Detective, The Fog, The Ninth Configuration, Escape from New York, Creepshow, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Night of the Creeps, Lethal Weapon, Maniac Cop, Striking Distance, Bruiser, My Bloody Valentine, and Drive Angry. In 2010 Atkins was inducted into the Fangoria Horror Hall of Fame and won the Horror Icon of the Year Award at the Louisville Fight Night Film Fest.
